Delicious Homemade Masks for Your Skin

Using high-quality beauty products on a regular basis is essential if you want to keep your skin healthy and glowing with beauty for many years to come. However, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enhance an occasional beauty session with masks made from the contents of your pantry. They have been used by our ancestors hundreds of years before professional cosmetics industry was created and proved to be rather effective.

Today we will share our favorite homemade face mask recipes for every skin type.

  • Dry skin: avocado + honey.
    Avocado is one of the healthiest foods you can find, s you definitely should have a few ripe fruits in your fridge at all times. One of the best things about avocado beauty-wise is the fact that it hydrates you from the inside. Therefore, it’s the perfect ingredient for homemade dry skin treatments.
    Directions: Take a half of a very ripe avocado and a ¼ cup of honey. Mash the fruit and mix it with honey. Apply the mask to your clean skin and leave for about 10 minutes. Then, wipe the mask off with a wet washcloth and rinse your face with warm water.
  • Oily skin: banana + honey + lemon.
    Girls with oily skin need to keep it nourished and hydrated but have to be very careful in order not to trigger sebum overproduction. Therefore, the best type of homemade treatment for them is made of ingredients with opposing properties. Lemon juice dries your skin, honey nourishes and exfoliates it, and banana provides both hydration and nourishment, though its effect isn’t as potent as that of ingredients used for dry skin.
    Directions: Mix 3 tsp. of mashed banana, several drops of lemon juice, and ½ tsp. of honey to create a smooth paste. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and apply the mix. Leave for 20 minutes. Wash off the mask with cool water. Note that the water shouldn’t be too cold. Afterward, continue with your ordinary routine of toner, serum, and cream.
  • Combination skin: pineapple + yogurt.
    Caring for combination skin is difficult because will need to use different products for different areas of your face, depending on whether they are dry or oily. However, there are some natural ingredients that can produce effective results on every part of your face.
    Directions: Crush a few pieces of pineapple and mix it with 2 tbs. of 0% fat yogurt. Carefully apply the mix on your clean face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Next, wash off with a soft wet washcloth and carefully rinse your skin with lukewarm water.

  • Sensitive/irritated skin: egg white + honey + yogurt + cucumber juice.
    If you have irritated or sensitive skin, you will need to be extremely careful when using any kind of cosmetic products as they may cause some serious and long-lasting damage. The safest ingredients for you are honey (only if you are NOT allergic to it), which hydrates and kills bacteria that often cause irritation, yogurt that soothes the irritation and whitens your skin, and cucumber juice, which hydrates and promotes healing.
    Directions: Mix 1 egg white, 1 tsp. each of cucumber juice, honey, and yogurt. Apply the mask on your face, leave for 15 minutes, and wash off with warm water.
  • Normal skin: honey + orange juice.
    If you are an owner of normal skin, you are in luck as every ingredient is safe and reasonably efficient for you. An easy to make mask that will make your skin glow with beauty consists of honey, for its extraordinary hydrating properties, and orange juice, which has the perfect level of acidity that helps maintain the natural pH balance.
    Directions: Take 2 tbs. of honey and 4 tbs. of orange juice and mix them into an even substance. You may need to warm up the honey to make mixing easier. Apply the mask on your face and leave for 30 minutes. Rinse off with cold water.
