What Skin Care Products Do I Really Need?

Several PureLx productsThere is something incredibly tempting about seeing the shelves full of all kinds of cosmetic products. It’s incredibly difficult for us girls to resist the temptation of buying some of those creams and serums that promise almost magical results. However, in the majority of the cases, this results in shelves overflowing with jars that you don’t really need. Not only is this a great waste of your money, there’s also the fact that too much cream can be bad for your skin!

In order to prevent overtaxing your budget and ensure that your skin gets the best care, you need to understand what kinds of products are really necessary to maintain your beauty. These “must have” items are:

  • Cleanser.
Cleansing is an essential step in the skin care process. You will need to have at least one cleanser. Though, if your skin is oily and prone to acne, it may be best to use some gentle cleansing foam in the morning to tighten your pores for the day and a special kind of more advanced solution to clean the pores thoroughly in the evening.
  • Moisturizer.
A moisturizing cream is an item no girl can do without, regardless of your skin type. You need to find a product that will work best for you and apply it every morning after cleansing your skin thoroughly. You can also reapply it during the day if you have an opportunity to do so. If not, consider investing in a special kind of moisturizing mist that can be sprayed atop of your makeup without damaging it. Reapplying is only relevant to those of us with dry skin.
Moisturizing your skin regularly will protect it from the environmental damage as well as help you slow down the process of aging.
  • Sunscreen.
It’s imperative to apply some sunscreen under your makeup every time you go out. The season and weather outside do not matter as there cannot be too much protection from the harmful UV rays. Remember that sunshine is one of the major factors contributing to your skin aging faster. Exposure to sun radiation also leads to the appearance of pigmentation and increases the risk of skin cancer.
  • Anti-aging cream.
Regardless of whether you are 25 or 60, you need to use a special kind of cream that will protect, rejuvenate and nourish your skin. It is best to start anti-aging treatment as early as your 20s, because this will help you prevent the appearance of wrinkles.
Be sure to use a cream specially designed for your age and skin type. Focus on the products that contain vitamins as well as jojoba and Argan oils. They can nourish your skin, moisturize it, and protect it from the damage dealt by free radicals.
There are creams for night use only, though majority of skincare lines offer creams that can be used both in the AM and PM. This is the best solution, but it doesn’t reduce the need to have a moisturizer on hand at all times.
  • Eye Cream.
The skin around your eyes has a different constitution and requires the use of specialized creams. Be sure to invest in under eye creams or gels that are right for your skin type and age. Use these products twice a day (morning and night).
It’s imperative that you apply this kind of creams by gently patting the tender skin as stretching will damage it.
  • Serums.
Serums became popular recently and quickly proved to be an invaluable asset to all women. Serums are more effective than creams, but show the best results when combined with the appropriate line of products.
You should apply serum suitable to your age and skin type before applying creams as the serum molecules are smaller and must go on before the bigger cream molecules.
  • Anti-blemish spot treatment.
As no one is ever perfectly safe from a stray pimple appearing at the most inopportune moment, you need to have a concentrated spot treatment for these occasions. This product will help you solve the problem quickly and efficiently.
  • Mask and scrub.
These are the products you need to choose based on your skin type. Use them once or twice a week (depending on your personal requirements) in order to make sure your skin looks as if you’ve just left a salon.
